We may consider
five big climatic regions in Brazil:
The Amazon Basin region
(1), with an
equatorial climate characterized by agreeable temperatures but plenty of rain
and humidity.
The Northeastern Coastlands (2)
from Fortaleza to the Bahian south coast, with an
all year round travel climate pattern.
The Rio de Janeiro, Vitoria and Sao Paulo coast
(3), with a
hybrid pattern.
The South States Region (4), with a temperate four season climate
pattern; and
The Inland Plateau (5), from the northeast inland to the Pantanal, with a
hard dry season and more extreme temperatures.
The map above shows the rough configuration of
these five climatic regions. Obviously, there are transitional zones and some
significant variations within each climate region.

BRAZIL: AMAZON
CLI,MATE, RAIN,
TEMPERATURES, WEATHER
There is no true dry season in the
Amazon basin, but the rainfalls vary substantially.
Temperatures are tropical and in an
agreeable range: 28° C/80° F -31° C/90° F. Cold is very rate and only
occasionally (in the most southern part of the Amazon).
There are no excessively high
temperatures. Temperatures above 37° C/100° F are truly rare. Only humidity can
be unpleasant to unaccustomed people.
Belem (at the mouth of the Amazon) and
Manaus (at the very heart) are very representative of the climate patterns of
the Amazon.

BRAZIL, NORTHEAST COAST
(BAHIA, RECIFE, FORTALEZA): TEMPEATURES, RAINS, WEATHER, CLIMATE
The Brazilian Northeast coast covers a
long territory of around 1900 miles (3000 Kms). The temperatures are agreeable all
along this vast coast and the humidity relatively small. But the more northward
destinations (namely northward Fortaleza) are wetter.

BRAZIL, SAO PAULO:
CLIMATE, WEATHER, TEMPERATURES, RAINS
Sao Paulo weather pattern is rather hybrid. It shares some characteristics of
Rio de Janeiro region, but as Sao Paulo is more inland, there are more extreme
temperatures, and uncomfortable days in the hotter and colder periods. Climate
is not as agreeable as in Rio de Janeiro.

BRAZILIAN
PLATEAU (BRAZILIAN, PANTANAL) CLIMATE REGION: WEATHER, TEMPERATURES, RAIN
The table above, of the Goias region, in very
representative of the weather conditions of Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. The
table is also representative (though in a lesser scale) of the Pantanal weather
pattern.
In the Pantanal, the rainy season goes from December to
March. During it, the rains are intense, and the temperature is high, and the
Pantanal gets flooded. The dry season (July to September) or the intermediary
seasons (April-June and October-November) are the best to visit the Pantanal…More
than 70% of the total rain falls from November to March.
The average temperature in Pantanal is near 30º, but it
can drop very much in May and June and may rise to 40º C in January and
February.

SOUTHERN BRAZIL
(FLORIANOPOLIS, IGUASSU FALLS) WEATHER TABLE:
TEMPERATURES, RAIN, CLIMATE
The table below is representative of the
south of Brazil climate. Florianopolis (Santa Catarina) can be included in it.
Here, we can detect a temperate pattern, with a cold winter and a four season
climate. However that’s not precisely the case of the Iguassu Falls. The inland
position of the Iguassu causes a mix pattern: something between the Brazilian
plateau climate and the coastal one.
