SAMBA MUSIC

SAMBA ORIGINS
Samba Brazil

Samba is rooted in the African culture and musical practices of ancient African slaves, and their descendents. It is intrinsically connected with the dances (umbigadas), and the batuques - the sounds of percussion instruments. But, for many experts, beyond this predominant influence, there is also the influence of some colonial and native Indian music.

Don’t confuse samba with minor commercial samba themes. Its higher expressions come from popular soul, and can attain very high standards. There are great samba themes.
